Although both materials deliver the same message, the course book explanation seems to be more general.

In Wikipedia, an alternative explanation is offered by means of the Hohenberg–Kohn functional or the Hamiltonian spectrum. The “energy content of a Hamiltonian” is a very interesting standpoint, however, it limits itself to the energy observable and may need elaborating. This is indeed offered by the bijection rationale in the course.
