During this talk, the concept of materials genome is presented as an analogy with an algorithm that was develop to build materials with particular properties of interest through computational methods via solving Schrodinger’s equation. Even though this concept seems convincing, solely relying on computational solutions to people’s creativity when designing materials can be a dead end. As an experimentalist I believe that this tools whether is DFT or tight-binding model must be tested through experimental setups. It is of my interest to use this tools not to necessary predict prior doing experimental analysis but rather explain qualitatively the origin of macroscopic observables via understanding strongly correlated systems at the nanoscale.
