I would use DFT since it allows me to consider larger systems while still obtaining results that can agree reasonably well with reliable experiments, even if it is an approximate method. In many cases, a good approximation is enough to describe the properties we are interested in without using a much more computationally expensive method. Also I think these approximations are useful for developing better computational tools and more efficient ways to study complex systems. In the case of Hartree-Fock and post-HF methods can be used when a more accurate description is needed.
