Quantum physics is an ab initio model because it starts from a small set of fundamental principles, such as the postulates of quantum mechanics from these mathematically derived predictions can be made comparable with observations.
Classical mechanics has it’s starting point at newton’s laws.
Classical electromagnetism is also an ab initio theory. Where the fundamental principles are expressed by Maxwell’s equations.
