Ab initio

We call quantum physics an ab initio model because it starts from irriducible principes like the Schrödinger equation.
The same holds true for classical mechanics because they start from principles like Newton’s laws of motion.
In the case of classical electromagnetism, the first principles are Maxwell’s equations, through which this could also be seen as an ab initio model.
