Quantum mechanics Is called an ab initio modelo because the properties of a system can, be obtained from fundamental equations such as the Schrödinger equation and the interactions between particles, without fitting the model to experimental data for that particular system. Classical mechanics can also be considered ab initio when it starts from Newton’s laws and known interactions rather than empirical force fields. In the same sense, classical electromagnetism is an ab initio theory, its first principles are Maxwell’s equations together with the Lorentz force.
