    One situation where BOA may fail is high temperature solids, like ceramics. Where at these high temperatures the particle vibration could result in a breakdown of the constrained nuclei assumption. Another could be under IR irradiation which specifically targets vibrational frequencies of bonds. These vibrations may be significant enough to cause BOA breakdown.
