The theoretical framework for solving the complex quantum-based material’s calculations (like Schrödinger’s equation) already exists, so researches only apply those equations simulating how real materials behave within it. Therefore, it is not a development of a new theory, but it is its computational modelling.
– Why do you think many people intuitively have the opposite opinion?
I believe that because quantum mechanics are rooted mainly in maths and physics which intuitively (yet incorrectly) to us may seem abstract, and therefore theoretical. And the term “quantum calculations” may sound more like “developing”/ “deriving” those calculations rather than applying them on computer models.
