    Since we already have the Schrodinger equations and some understanding of quantum mechanics we figured out how electrons and protons interact. Now it is just figuring out the many different interactions through simulating them.

    I think the opposite opinion comes from the understanding of quantum mechanics, since there is a high level of uncertainty and probability involved. People might also assume that we are unable to use computers to model new materials without already experimenting that combination, but since we know the fundamental interactions we could solve this system.
