We know the formulas with which we have to work with, but cannot calculate them by hand, so we use simulations to do them for us. the Theory is achieved, we skip the experimental phase because it is difficult.
intuitively people think about theory if they hear quantum fysics, they think it is not used very often in real life and is only played with by scientists who do research and develop the theory
