Quantum physics allows us to understand or mimic nature at the most fundamental level using the Schrödinger equation. On the otherhand, classical mechanics is regarded as an ab initio model, since it allows us to use Newtonian mechanics for classical systems. Yes, classical electromagnetism is an ab initio model, as it allows us to recreate or simulate the interactions of electric charges, magnetic and electric fields using Maxwell’s equations.
