Some quantum physics/chemistry methods are called ab initio because they utilise fundamental laws of physics to calculate required characteristics, without needing to use experimental inputs. In the same way, classical mechanics can be used to calculate any required characteristic from first principles without having to input any experimental data. This should also apply to electromagnetism, since it cannot be further reduced to more fundamental concepts.
