n an ab initio model, we always start from a fundamental law or set of equations. We then build on this to calculate things and verify properties. In quantum mechanics, this is the Schrödinger equation; in classical mechanics, it is Newton’s equations; and in electromagnetism, it is Maxwell’s equations.
