Physics builds its major frameworks ab initio from a small set of first principles. Classical mechanics begins with Newton’s laws, electromagnetism with Maxwell’s equations, and quantum physics with the Schrödinger equation.
Ab initio is the latin phrase for ‘from first principle’, this means in this context, starting from the Schrödinger equations.
