As I understand from the video, we call quantum physics an ab initio model because we use the Schrödinger equation. We call classical mechanics an ab initio model because it can give us conclutions out of fundamental laws (Newton’s laws). In this sense, classical electromagnetism is and ab initio model as we can use the Maxwell equations.
