The dynamics that govern the stability of the bridge are well known. Techniques to simulate this are also efficient, allowing the engineer to understand how different things effect the strength of the bridge, without having to build it. The techniques to simulate the properties of superconducters are nonexcistent or laborintensive. This makes it impossible for the materials engineer to find a functional superconducter without testing many different materials.
