    I agree with Ceder’s vision, but with one caveat. I think that we are a long way off from having computational tools replace experimental technique entirely. Lab testing will have to remain an important tool within the materials design pipeline – computational tools may narrow down the solution space significantly, but some real iteration is still needed for confidence that the best result has been found. Perhaps, one day, we will have enough proof and confidence in computational tools that we can indeed do away with the need for experimentation, but that is much, much farther out than what I described above. Either way, it’s an exciting space to be in, and we are sure to see many innovative results in the years to come.
